Studio vs Live

Live: A producer known as Marshmello placed the beginning of the song "Silence". And had the whole intro played out until the drop where he started to mix up the original drop from verse to chorus, with a different chorus that he most likely took from another song. He probable done this to be surprising and to build tension as you would never know what the drop will be. He also does some things like add a low filter cut off to speak to the crowd. Not only done with this but done with pretty much every song in his performance as he gates some of his drop to stutter it do fade into another drop/ chorus. He also used other peoples remixes of his own song, and other peoples songs as a drop, but with his own input, i.e is own build up. Marshmello. Equipment for the Performance

iMac (Mouse, Keyboard, Ableton) Midi Keyboard Clip Launcher F.O.H Speakers Table (To place the iMac and equipment) Cable runner (To cover up the wires connecting to the iMac and F.O.H) X.L.R Extension Lead (Not enough length on the wires, so a Extension is required to have it connected) Mixer (To control the amplitude of the performance) Sub woofers (To control any uncontrollable bass, cuts out super low frequencies)

Performance Three

For this I've used the same introduction however changed a lot with the chorus. I've made a more "Full" sounding chorus by making more percussion at the beginning of the chorus. Ive also implemented my idea of layering the vocals and increasing the pitch by +12. I still have introduce a middle verse which took a while to match as the tempo and timing was completely off, because I reloaded it in to Ableton again and had to match it up again with the tempo. After this I managed to have it match perfectly and synced some shakers and tambourines to it. I plan to just have this go straight back into the chorus. Feedback: Seb: I like how you have structured your song as it has clear progression, I also like layered vocals as the high octave sound like an eco of the lower octave, to improve I would make the kick drum more punchy. Lizzie: I like the vocals and how you have transposed the vocals. I also like the harmonising on the vocals where you have mixed high and...

Second Performance

For this track I took the lyrics from the song "Young Daughter" and transposed it down by 6 to give it a slower and deeper voice. I then had to find the tempo because the audio file didn't match the tempo in Ableton. So I counted the tempo of the original song which is 151 bpm. I then made the track 151 bpm and then ha to match the tempo in Ableton to the track tempo which ended up being 120 bpm, however I could never find the tempo so I was just moving up and down the tempo to make it match the audio track. Seb: I like that the vocals sound muffled as it gives the song a more chilled out vibe, also I like the syncopated guitar as it gives the feel that the song is moving like a wave, to improve I would make the kick drum and the bass more punchy. Lizzie: I Like the guitar it reminds me of James bay. The static sound works well with the song. I like the way the  kick and the tambourin comes in. it creates a nice contrast. I think that it would be good if you maybe...

First Performance

This is my first attempt at performing my composition. However I will stop creating this piece and start from scratch. Im doing this because I can't find a way to develop it into a live performance. I will be starting a new composition within the same genre, just different style. So for this I was attempting to create Lofi Hip-Hop which was successful as I hit the mellow sounds and the mellow vocals. I applied reverb to every sound to give it a very realistic like sound. I added a static vinyl to it to add to the mellow and spacious feel. Seb: I like the static sound as it fills in the empty space in the background of the track. I also like the vocals as they sound echoey. lizzie I love the static effect it really makes the track. the drums all Syncopated well and the mellow keys sound great. the vocals work well as they both contrast with each-other as ons low and ones high. going forward I would add things in slower and many layer the key to make them fuller. The feedba...

Plan

Date/ Time Objective Targets Evaluate 22/11/18 9AM Thursday I will choose 3 artist that perform live and will go over some gear the use while performing Research 3 artists who use live performances Find some pieces of gear that the artists use during their performance Make a blog to feed all of my information into about my artist and their performance I have managed to talk about 3 artists within the live performance and what kind of gear they use. I don't feel that I will need to continue this into next week as all had been researched. I have made blog within blogger. The reason to making it in blogger is because its the site if had most experience in using so I thought to go back to it an place all my information.  23/11/18 9AM Friday Do research at the beginning of the day to finish off. Research 3 roles within live performance Will do a assessment of what will be required for my performance, i.e equipment, F.O.H, Ableton D...

Rational

For my project I will plan my weeks ahead hourly and date wise. I will be planning what I will be doing with my research and evaluating as I go. I will be researching artists live performance and gear to get an idea of what sort of gear to use for my performance based of off my research. I will then perform what every I have created with Ableton and use whatever gear I use to perform it. I will be taking part in the performance by being part of a role like a audio technician, or a Back line technician.
